What's BETTER about this model than the previous versions is that this newest model will actually measure distance to ANY object, NOT just a standard golf pin. So.... it can be used to measure the distance to any target in the distance, be that a golf pin, archery target or hunting target as long as you know its height.
The default mode for this device is to measure the distance to a golf pin, but it can be changed at the push of a button to measure the distance to ANYTHING in "General Mode".
Also, the buttons on this newest model are better than those on the previous one because these buttons have a definite "click' to them, instead of the "rubbery" feel of the old ones.
